More Than 900 Writers Sign a Letter Addressed to Amazon
Recently, more than nine hundred writers decided to voice their feelings on the situation. The authors banded together to sign an open letter to Amazon; some of the participating children’s books creators include The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian author Sherman Alexie, Speak author Laurie Halse Anderson, and The Book Thief author Markus Zusak.
“The letter, available in full at authorsunited.net, is the result of what has become a very public showdown, brought to light in May, between a publisher and the most powerful book retailer in the business. While the signers of the letter claim not to be ‘taking sides’ in the issue, they feel that they have ‘made Amazon many millions of dollars’ and want to be treated fairly by their ‘business partner.'” (Publishers Weekly)
