It’s Me, Margaret; Forever; and Blubber told the audience that “parents should be less concerned about the suitability of their children’s reading material, concentrating more on simply getting them to love books.” Throughout the years, many of Blume’s books have been the target of banning because they deal with sensitive subjects like sex, racism, and puberty. For Blume, those moments proved to be quite “alarming.”
