Remembering Author Ann McGovern
McGovern was born on May 25, 1930 in New York City. Her passion for reading and storytelling offered comfort throughout a difficult childhood. McGovern went on to hold several positions in publishing, at Little Golden Books, Random House, and Scholastic, before pursuing a full-time career in writing.
In addition to penning over 50 books for young readers over her lifetime, McGovern was extremely well-traveled. McGovern’s adventures alongside her husband and friends provided inspiration for many projects.
She was a creative and passionate force in children’s books, bringing her own love of life to the work she cared so much about: exciting children to be curious about the adventure of life and learning. (Publishers Weekly)
