Changes to 'New York Times' Children's Bestseller Lists

According to editor of the NYT Book Review Pamela Paul, the change in format is intended to boost discoverability of titles. Before the shift, debut authors had a difficult time breaking into the bestseller lists.
Paul hopes that the new lists will help draw potential readers to new books. ‘I think in this new reconfiguration, you’ll see a lot more newly published hardcover fiction…Just like book reviews, the bestseller lists are another place for discovery. It will be useful for readers, too.’ (Publishers Weekly)
