Día Founder Pat Mora Promotes Literacy for All
This year, Día celebrations took place in 38 states, including Alaska, with festivities held in 25 languages, and Mora shows no signs of slowing down. She is also committed to promoting a wider range of diverse children’s literature.
For the next 20 years, Mora envisions continuing ‘the work,’ as she calls her involvement with Día. She hopes to see publishers creatively promote its annual celebration and literacy strategies, as well as see an ongoing rise in the initiative’s growing list of educational and non-profit partners. She even muses that someday Día will become a national celebration. (School Library Journal)
