Welcome to the Children’s Book Council, Lawley Publishing!
What’s the origin story of Lawley Publishing?
The co-founders of Lawley Publishing, Carrie Turley and Lara Law, bonded over a love of fairies and an appreciation for each other’s particular skills: Carrie as an author and Lara as an illustrator. After learning from other authors and illustrators about some industry idiosyncrasies, they began a new venture dedicated to doing things differently. Now, as the owners of a Children’s Book Publishing company, they have a unique perspective on both sides of the table. Their passion for finding stories that are diamonds in the rough and a love for clean, uplifting children’s literature is what fuels them and their team every day.
What are some titles you’re proud to have published and why?
We are proud of every one of our titles because each tells a unique story! If we had to name our top picks, though, these are the books that we have felt incredibly privileged to be a part of as they have touched the lives of both parents and children alike: Uniquely You!, Bear’s Book of Emotions, The Hair Fairies series, What If…?, and Candy Kingdom.
Tell us about some upcoming Lawley projects.
We have incredible things going on this year. We are excited about several specific upcoming projects: our Step into Spanish series, the thematic unit for What If…? that will be available to teachers, I Am Safe that teaches children how to train their brain to feel safe, the two-part World Can Wait, The Children in the Box Christmas book, and a sensitive book about abuse titled Tell Everyone!
