CHILDREN’S LITERATURE
The PEN/Phyllis Naylor Working Writer Fellowship is given annually to an author of children’s or young-adult fiction. The Fellowship is designed to assist a writer at a crucial moment in his or her career to complete a book-length work-in-progress. To nominate an eligible writer (an individual who has published at least two novels for children or young adults), write a letter of support, describing in some detail how the candidate meets the criteria for the Fellowship. Past recipients of the Fellowship include Sarah Dooley, Lucy Frank, Graham McNamee, Lori Aurelia Williams, Franny Billingsley, Amanda Jenkins, and Barbara Shoup.
The PEN/Steven Kroll Award acknowledges an American or U.S.-based author for exceptional writing in a picture book. Eligible writers must have been published between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012. Submissions are welcome from any source: writers, editors, literary agents, or members of the literary community at large.
