Archive: Young Adults’ Choices List

Young Adults’ Choices can be counted on as the new books that teens have enjoyed reading and voted on as their favorites.

[THIS AWARD IS NO LONGER ACTIVE]

Each year, students in grades 7 to 12 from five different regions of the United States read newly-published teen trade books and vote for the ones they like best. Five review teams across the country work with their local classroom teachers and librarians to incorporate the books into classroom activities. The annual Young Adults’ Choices, selected from hundreds of titles submitted by publishers, can be used successfully in reading programs and can be related to classroom curricula.

The ILA Young Adults’ Choices began in 1987 as an annual project of the International Literacy Association. In 2019, the Young Adults’ Choices were added to the partnership with CBC, who already work closely with ILA on the yearly Children’s Choices.
