Indie Press Focus

A directory of independent children’s book publishers for teachers, librarians, and booksellers.

The Publisher Focus is a directory of independent children’s book publishers for teachers, librarians, and booksellers. With this resource, the Children’s Book Council brings special attention to independent presses across the country and helps them spotlight the diversity and vitality of children’s books.

These publishers’ impactful work extends to a wide range of subjects from social justice to own voices, fitness to fiction, food literacy to STEM, bilingual books to poetry, local history to climate fiction, and so much more.

The resource below gathers publishers’ mission statements, websites, and—importantly—keywords to aid in the search for great new and backlist gems that will add greatly to offerings for students, patrons, and customers.
