ARCHIVE: Children’s Choices List

The books in these lists are read and voted on by 12,500 children across the US each year. These Children’s Choices can be counted on as books children really enjoy reading.

Each year, children from Kindergarten – 6th grade in five regions of the United States read newly-published children’s trade books and vote for the ones they like best. Five review teams across the country work with their local classroom teachers and librarians to incorporate the books into classroom activities. These Children’s Choices, selected from hundreds of titles submitted by publishers, can be counted on as books children really enjoy reading.

Since 1974, Children’s Choices has been a trusted source of book recommendations used by teachers, booksellers, librarians, parents, caregivers — everyone who wishes to encourage young people to read for pleasure — and children themselves.

The project is co-sponsored by the CBC and the International Literacy Association (ILA).

Submissions to the Children’s Choices program may become finalists in the Children’s Choice Book Awards, the only national child-chosen awards program in the country.
