Updated AUGUST 2026
Women Aviators, Engineers, and Astronauts
To mark the 50th anniversary of the International Women’s Air & Space Museum in Cleveland, we’re setting our sights on the skies and beyond!. The Children’s Book Council has curated a vibrant collection of titles for kids and teens to honor the brave aviators, groundbreaking engineers, and pioneering astronauts who paved the way.
Creators of Lacrosse
The Haudenosaunee Nationals Lacrosse Organization is an indigenous sports organization (the only one of its kind in the world) that competes on the world stage. In the World Championships going on now. the Haudenosaunee Nationals Women’s team stunned reigning bronze medalist England 10-9 on a goal by Duke standout Avery Doran with just five seconds remaining. Comprised entirely of Native American players and descendants, the Haudenosaunee women made their international debut in 2009, medaled for the first time as a nation at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s Box Championship and will now compete in the medal round in a field championship. A book about this inspiring legacy of the first to play lacrosse is to come next year.
From Just Us Books, here’s a wonderful tribute to the amazing women authors, illustrators, editors, agents, librarians, and scholars who make the kidlit community so special. We salute you and all our young readers. Let’s keep sharing our stories and making history!
It’s Women’s History Month and we’re sharing a list of women-owned bookstores to support.
Black Women: Breaking Barriers, Building Legacies
Black women have long been at the heart of history, culture, science, activism, and the arts—shaping the world in ways both celebrated and still waiting to be fully recognized. Their stories are filled with innovation, courage, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to change. Across generations and disciplines, they have led movements, broken barriers, built legacies, and reimagined what’s possible. See the book list we’ve compiled here.
The National Women’s History Alliance has selected the theme for Women’s History Month 2025: “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.”
Inspired by all the beautiful children’s books being published every year that celebrate what we are calling HerStory, the CBC has gathered an up-to-date list of these new and backlist books. The list was created in March 2025 and we will add new books year-round.
