The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art Presents: Annual Educators’ Night with Guest Speaker and Author Jack Gantos
The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is pleased to announce its Annual Educators’ Night on October 30, 2013, featuring a conversation and book signing with award-winning author Jack Gantos, as well as presentations from educators about integrating the arts into the classroom. The event begins at 4:30 pm and is free and open to all educators as space permits.
Dead Ends, Rotten Ralphs, Jacks and Joeys: A Conversation with Jack Gantos will be facilitated by Cathryn M. Mercier, Director of the Center for the Study of Children’s Literature at Simmons College. Gantos will discuss his extensive career in literature and children’s book writing, and then conclude the evening with a book signing.
Prior to the presentation with Jack Gantos, five educators and artists will share the innovative ways they teach through the arts—theater, music, film, visual arts, or dance. All presentations will be in the spirit of the dynamic Japanese presentation style PechaKucha, in which every presenter chooses 20 slides and shows each for 20 seconds, limiting each total presentation to six minutes and forty seconds.
