World Read Aloud Day
The CBC is partnering with LitWorld on their third annual World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Books of Wonder in NYC!
Throughout the day, authors (including current National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Walter Dean Myers and Ambassador Emeritus Katherine Paterson!) will be appearing in 90-minute slots at Books of Wonder to read aloud, sign books, and field questions from school groups (including children enrolled in LitWorld’s LitClubs, after-school reading and writing workshops for at-risk youth) & the public. The event will also be streamed live online, so that children in LitClubs worldwide (including sites in Kenya, Iraq, Sierra Leone, and the Philippines), and folks outside of the NY-area can participate. See the full day’s schedule here.
Last year’s World Read Aloud Day reached more than 60 countries, all 50 states and over 200,000 participants.
