Is Your New Year’s Resolution to Take Part in the Caldecott 75th Anniversary Celebration?
Here are three ways to get started this January from our friends at ALSC:
1) Take part in a Facebook Forum with a Caldecott artist. This month, Melissa Sweet will take part in an ALSC Facebook Forum at 11 a.m. Eastern time on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013. Sweet won a Caldecott Honor in 2009 for her illustrations in the book “A River of Words: The Story of William Carlos Williams,” written by Jen Bryant.
2) Register on January 7th for “A Wild Ride: 75 Years of the Caldecott Medal,” the ALSC preconference at ALA Annual on Friday, June 28, 2013, Chicago, IL. Take a wild ride through the past, present and future of award-winning children’s book art. Hear about the creative process from an array of Caldecott winners, as well as editors, art directors, and production managers. Engage with one another in small focus groups and interactive, critical discussions of Caldecott medal books throughout the years.
3) Participate in an ALSC webinar–free for ALSC members. Registration is currently open for “Expanding the Caldecott Experience: Programming with Caldecott Winning and Honor Books” with instructor Gene Nelson and “Get to Know the Caldecott Winners” with instructors Kathleen T. Horning and Nick Glass.
