Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Reading Is Fundamental Kick Off Book Tour with Children’s Literacy Celebrations at Ft. Bragg, Joint Base Andrews
Abdul-Jabbar will speak with parents and kids, share his inspiring life story and sign copies of his book. Kids at the literacy celebration will also receive free books from Reading Is Fundamental. The celebrations are an especially personal cause for Abdul-Jabbar, whose parents first met at Ft. Bragg when his father was a member of the Army Band.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 38,387 points and a Basketball Hall of Fame inductee. Since retiring, Abdul-Jabbar has been an actor, basketball coach, and an author. Sasquatch in the Paint is his second children’s book.
These events were made possible through the generous support of Macy’s and Reading Is Fundamental Board Member Matthew McCorry and his wife Amanda McCorry.
