Macmillan to Publish Lane Smith’s Debut Middle Grade Novel
Roaring Brook Press, an imprint of the Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, will publish the novel on May 05, 2015. In an interview with Parade magazine, Smith talks about the inspiration for this project.
“My parents never took us kids to Europe or the Caribbean. We spent every vacation visiting roadside attractions along Route 66. It was great. My first middle grade novel is set in that uniquely American environment and features the kinds of conversations I recall having with my best friend back in the day. Ignored by the cool kids and often bullied, we talked comic books, movies, supernatural events, and sometimes girls.” (Parade)
