Remembering Walter Dean Myers

Since publishing his first book in 1968, Where Does the Day Go, Myers went on to write books across various genres and forms. Throughout his career he remained a fierce champion of literacy and diversity, further connecting with young readers as National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature (2012-2013).
Literature was his one true faith, the lens through which he surveyed every aspect of the human condition. His personal mission: To create literature about the people whose stories had been left off the shelf. (NYT)
