Happy Birthday, David Shannon!
Born in 1959 in Washington, D.C., and raised in Washington State, Shannon showed early signs of being an artist. At just five years old he created his first picture book, featuring illustrations of him breaking the rules with the caption “No, David!” Years later, after rediscovering that childhood story, Shannon was inspired to write the beloved bestseller and Caldecott Honor Book No, David!
Shannon continues to dream up humorous stories for kids, often pulled from his own childhood and experiences as a parent. He is also the creator of this zany Children’s Book Week Poster!
