The Role of Sensitivity Readers in Kid Lit and YA

Authors concerned about the accuracy of their cultural representations are beginning to work with sensitivity readers in order to reduce stereotypes. A sensitivity reader might have a specific sexual orientation, ethnic background, or other underrepresented experience or identity that are often overlooked by the majority culture.
I can’t even explain how grateful I am, because there are things I wouldn’t have thought of that are an easy catch for people who have lived through that experience. (Literary Hub)
