Awesome Girls Read-Along: a series of events with the Girl Scouts of the USA
The Children’s Book Council was honored to work with the Girl Scouts to connect kids with book creators as part of their Kindergarten Readiness programming this summer. A series of virtual events has been planned with six amazing book creators. Doreen Cronin, author of Click-Clack-Moo kicked off the series on July 29 with a live reading of her book and questions & answer session with virtual attendees.
These virtual events are primarily for children who will be entering kindergarten this fall and are open to all, not just to current Girl Scouts.
You can find and register for future events using the Girl Scouts Virtual Event Calendar.
Upcoming events in this series include:
- Author and illustrator Lizzy Rockwell will read How Do You Feel, a book that helps kids understand people’s emotions on August 12 at 12pm EDT.
- Jasmyn Wright, author of I’m Gonna Push Through!, will read and discuss her book which inspires rising kindergartners to keep going on August 25 at 12pm EDT.
- Author Susan Verde will read I Am One: A Book of Action, inspiring girls to take a first step toward something amazing on September 14 at 2:30pm EDT.
- Janet Lawler will do a read-a-long of her book Kindergarten Hat, a tale of starting Kindergarten on September 23 at 12pm EDT.
Stay tuned for the date and time of an event with Dashka Slater, author of A Book For Escargot.
