CBC Goes to the Eric Carle Honors!

The CBC and Every Child a Reader were thrilled to attend the 2025 Eric Carle Honors Awards at the Museum’s annual gala and fundraiser at The New York Historical in New York City on Thursday, September 25. The event was hosted by Mac Barnett, the 9th National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature.

As the 2021 Carle Honors Angel winner, Every Child a Reader is so happy to welcome the new honorees every year!

2025 Honorees
- Artist: George C. Ford Jr. – given to an individual who has shown lifelong innovation in the field.
- Angel: Cooperative Children’s Book Center– for an individual whose generous resources are crucial to making picture-book art exhibitions, education programs, and related projects a reality.
- Bridge: Seattle Children’s Theatre – for an individual who has found inspired ways to bring the art of the picture book to larger audiences through work in other fields.
- Mentor: Andrea Davis Pinkney – for an editor, designer, or educator who has championed the art form.
- Inspiration: Jane Bayard Curley – honors select individuals whose work in the arts helps us look at the world in new ways.

After the ceremony, guests were invited to a reception with food, drinks, and lovely conversation. Thank you to the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art for a wonderful evening and for their dedicated work to collect, preserve, and present picture-book art for people of all ages.
