Day in the Life (Remote): Emily Luedloff

Associate Marketing Manager for Libraries at Sourcebooks.
Day: Friday, April 10, 2025
8:30 AM: My days start at 8:30. I settle down at my desk with a hot coffee and granola bar and start going through my emails. I always start my day by checking email and Teams, then writing a color-coded list of all my meetings, immediate to-do list items (things to do today), and my overarching to-do list (things to do in the next week).
9:00 AM: I meet with my manager weekly to talk through what I’m working on, get any outstanding questions answered, and brainstorm on upcoming library events. We talked a lot about National Library Week, coming up on April 19, and how we can support it.
10:30 AM: After my weekly meeting, I always have some action items to follow up on! I created some forms for an upcoming conference, emailed our communications team about National Library Week plans, and did some follow-up from attending TLA and PLA last week.
12:00 PM: We had a special meeting with multi-award-winning author Daniel Nayeri to talk about his upcoming book, This is a Door. We got to talk to him directly about the book, and he shared insights on how he came up with the idea for the book and how he took it from concept to ideation. One of my favorite parts of my job is working with authors, so this was a special treat!
1:00 PM: Lunchtime! I love taking a walk outside while listening to an audiobook and, thankfully, it wasn’t raining today.
2:00 PM: One of my favorite things I get to work on is The Well-Read Librarian newsletter. This is my weekly newsletter to librarians and educators from Sourcebooks. Today, I got to make our colorful kids & YA Pride Month newsletter!
3:30 PM: The rest of my day was meetings with other marketing teams to strategize on our fall and spring titles. These meetings are always full of energy and make me so excited for our upcoming titles! I always take notes and add action items to my to-do list.
5:30 PM: The day has come to a close. I do one more sweep of my email inbox, make sure I have no outstanding Teams messages, and then it’s time to log off and relax with my dinner and episodes of a comfort TV show.
