Pride in the Places CBC Staff Call Home

While June marks the official kickoff for a month of visibility, joy, and solidarity, celebrating Pride is a year-round movement. This year, “community” takes center stage as CBC team members share the unique, vibrant ways their hometowns are honoring this colorful holiday. From bustling metropolitan parades to tight-knit regional festivals, here is how our communities are showing up loud and proud throughout the year:

Atlanta Pride: Established in 1971 as the South’s largest LGBTQ+ event, Atlanta Pride is the nation’s largest free Pride festival. Held each October in Piedmont Park, the week-long celebration features a massive parade, live entertainment, and a 200-vendor marketplace.

Brunswick Pride: Bringing local charm to midcoast Maine, this welcoming festival features live performances, an open-air artist market, community resources, and family-friendly games on the town green.

Denver Pride: Since 1974, Denver Pride has united the LGBTQ+ community and allies for a weekend of celebration and advocacy. As the Rocky Mountain region’s largest Pride event, it draws over 500,000 people for a massive parade and live entertainment.

Lower Adirondack Pride: Hosted at Glens Falls City Park in upstate New York, this community-driven festival brings non-stop queer joy to the region with a downtown march, live music, all-ages activities, and a fierce drag show.

Miami Rainbow Spring: While Greater Miami & Miami Beach are famously diverse year-round, their LGBTQ+ pride shines brightest from March through June. The area buzzes with massive seasonal extravaganzas, including Miami Beach Pride and SweetHeat Miami.

Pride Portland!: Maine’s premier Pride organization celebrates the state’s diverse LGBTQ+ community through localized cultural events, advocacy work, and its flagship annual parade and festival.

Sun City Pride: Founded in 2007, El Paso Sun City Pride drives regional visibility and acceptance. Its annual Pridefest has expanded from a single day into a month of stadium events, scholarships, and social nights, culminating in a historic downtown parade.

Wynwood Pride: Spanning four colorful weekends in June, this high-energy neighborhood festival features dynamic drag performances, pool parties, outdoor concerts, and vibrant artisan markets.
