Jon Anderson Joins National Coalition Against Censorship Board of Directors
NEW YORK, April 8 2013-The National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC), the nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting freedom of thought, inquiry and expression and opposing censorship in all its forms, recently elected Jon Anderson, President and Publisher of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing Division, to its board of directors.
At Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, Anderson is in charge of overall operations, including editorial, design, production, publicity, marketing, and licensing activities. Simon & Schuster publishes fiction, audiobooks, and classics for children from preschool to teen and is home to numerous Newbery, Caldecott, and National Book Award winners.
Its extensive backlist includes many beloved high-profile characters and stories such as Olivia, Eloise, The Hardy Boys®, Nancy Drew® , Dork Diaries, Chicka Chicka Boom, Click Clack Moo, and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Anderson is also the author of more than 25 children’s books under the pseudonym William Boniface, with cumulative sales of more than two million copies.
Anderson served as the Event Chair of NCAC’s 2012 Annual Celebration of Free Speech and its Defenders, where authors Ellen Hopkins and Phyllis Reynolds Naylor were honored along with Chris Finan, President of the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression.
