Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and Lincoln Center for The Performing Arts Launch “LC Kids Storytime at the Atrium,” A Monthly Author and Illustrator Reading Series
New York, NY — Little, Brown Books for Young Readers and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts are pleased to announce their partnership on “LC Kids Storytime at the Atrium,” a monthly author and illustrator event series. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will serve as the exclusive publishing partner for the series, coordinating beloved authors and illustrators to read and sign books for young readers in the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center on the following dates in 2015: October 31, November 21, December 19; and in 2016: January 16, February 20, March 19, April 16, and May 14.
The “LC Kids Storytime at the Atrium” kickoff event will be on October 31 at 1:00 p.m. and will feature R.L. Stine, beloved author of the Goosebumps series, and Marc Brown, renowned creator of Arthur, for a reading and drawing demonstration from their recent picture book collaboration The Little Shop of Monsters. This event will be part of Lincoln Center’s larger Halloween celebration, LC Trick-or-Treat: Monsters and Music, including trick-or-treating around the campus, a parade to live music by Jazz at Lincoln Center ensemble Sammy Miller and the Congregation, performers from the Big Apple Circus, and more. Stine and Brown will discuss their collaboration and take families on a hilariously spooky (but not too scary) romp through “the best shop to buy a monster.” Replete with Stine’s signature sinister charm, the story welcomes readers into a monster store bursting with creations from the author’s famous imagination and detailed in Brown’s larger-than-life illustrations.
Caldecott Honor author/illustrator Patrick McDonnell will appear on November 21 at 11:00 a.m. for a reading and signing of Thank You and Good Night. This bedtime book with a message of gratitude is perfect for the holiday season; the event will feature a pajama-party theme. Author Lindsay Mattick and New York Times bestselling illustrator Sophie Blackall will appear on December 19 at 11:00 a.m. for a reading and signing of Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World’s Most Famous Bear. Additional author and illustrator participants for 2016 will be announced at a later date on LincolnCenter.org.
“LC Kids Storytime at the Atrium” is presented by LC Kids, Lincoln Center’s program that welcomes families to Lincoln Center and presents top quality performances and events to engage children in the arts. This year, LC Kids will present seventeen free events in the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, located on Broadway between Sixty-Second and Sixty-Third Streets, with a total capacity of more than four thousand children and parents. In addition, the Clark Studio Series will hold twelve performances, building on four pilot programs last spring. A total of forty-nine performances and events are on the LC Kids schedule this season.
