The White House Honors La Casa Azul Bookstore Owner Aurora Anaya-Cerda as a Crowdfunding “Champion of Change”
Back in 2011, Anaya-Cerda launched the “40K in 40 Days” campaign on Indiegogo raising nearly $40,000 to open La Casa Azul. This independent bookstore has become a cultural center that boasts a constant rotation of programs, classes, and readings featuring local artists, high-profile performers, and world-renowned writers.
“‘Crowdfunding’ means raising money in small increments from many individuals, typically using an Internet platform…The Champions of Change program was created as an opportunity for the White house to feature groups of Americans – individuals, businesses and organizations – who are doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities.”
