21st Annual Garden State Book Awards Announced
The Garden State Children’s Book Awards were initiated in 1977 in recognition of outstanding books for elementary grade readers.
2016 Garden State Children’s Book Awards
- EASY-TO-READ BOOK: Fly Guy and the Frankenfly by Tedd Arnold
- FICTION, GRADES 2 – 5: Escape From Mr. Lemoncello’s Library by Chris Grabenstein
- FICTION SERIES BOOK: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck by Jeff Kinney
- NON-FICTION, GRADES 2 – 5: The Animal Book: A Collection of the Fastest, Fiercest, Toughest, Cleverest, Shyest – and Most Surprising – Animals on Earth by Steve Jenkins
The Young Adult Services Section of the New Jersey Library Association established the Garden State Teen Book Award in 1995. The awards program strives to introduce teens to books that are age appropriate, appealing, well written, and which accurately reflect the diversity found in the state of New Jersey.
