DOGObooks and YALSA Partner for 2016 Teens’ Top Ten voting
CHICAGO, IL – Today the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) announced that DOGObooks, the largest website for kids and teens to review books, will host the voting for the 2016 Teens’ Top Ten.
For the fourth year in a row, DOGObooks is the host site where teens will go to vote for the Teens’ Top Ten. Voting by teens has grown significantly over the last couple of years and organizers expect a record number of votes this year.
“We are thrilled to partner with YALSA to spread the word on teen books! DOGObooks has quadrupled in size since we began our partnership four years back, as more kids and teens discover and share books they love” said Meera Dolasia, CEO of DOGO Media.
A link to the 2016 voting page, hosted by DOGObooks, will be posted on the Teens’ Top Ten site starting August 15. The voting page will showcase all 26 nominees with their respective book covers and summaries, and will give teens the opportunity to leave comments about their favorite titles.
Voting for the 2016 Teens’ Top Ten will take place from August 15 – October 15 of this year. Teens aged 12-18 are eligible to participate in the voting process and will be able to vote for up to three of their favorite titles from the list of 26 nominated titles. A video featuring the 26 nominated titles can be found on the Teens’ Top Ten site.
The Teens’ Top Ten is a “teen choice” list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year. Teens aged 12-18 can nominate their favorite titles to be considered as a 2017 Teens’ Top Ten nominee via the public nomination form. Book title nominations submitted in the current year will be used for consideration of the following year’s list of nominees. Teens can submit a book title now through December 31, 2016 to be included in the pool of the 2017 nominee candidates. For books to be eligible for consideration, they must be published between January 1– December 31, 2016.
Teens’ Top Ten nominations are posted on the Thursday of National Library Week, and teens across the country vote on their favorite titles each year. Readers ages twelve to eighteen will vote online between August and Teen Read Week, which takes place October 9-15, 2016.
