Kid Reporter Applications Now Open
In the past year, 50 Kid Reporters from across the country and around the world reported on global current events and local news including entertainment, environment, and sports stories. They even interviewed newsmakers such as American figure skaters Alysa Liu and Nathan Chen, Captain Underpants and Dog Man creator Dav Pilkey, and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Millie Bobby Brown.
Through the award-winning Scholastic Kids Press program, Scholastic Kid Reporter articles are published online, and in select issues of Scholastic Classroom Magazines, which reach more than 25 million students nationwide.
Kids ages 10–14 with an interest in reporting “news for kids, by kids” are strongly encouraged to apply. Students interested in applying must submit a personal essay about why they want to be a Kid Reporter, a news article, and two story ideas with their application. All applications must be received by May 31, 2020.
