Abrams Appleseed Acquires Caldecott Winner Chris Raschka’s Thingy Things Series; Four New Titles to Publish Alongside Four Revised Editions Starting in Spring 2014
NEW YORK, NY – Abrams Appleseed, an imprint of ABRAMS, announces the acquisition of eight books in the Thingy Things series by two-time Caldecott winner Chris Raschka. Published in a child-friendly trim size, these short, hilarious stories will draw giggles from children and adults alike, who will be unable to resist the subversive humor and clever drawings.
In April 2014, the first two new titles, Crabby Crab and Cowy Cow will be published alongside refreshed editions of Lamby Lamb and Whaley Whale. In September 2014, new titles Buggy Bug and Clammy Clam will be published alongside refreshed editions of Moosey Moose, and Doggy Dog.
“As the creator of the Thingy Things series, I could not be happier—I’m over the moon—that these little books are alive again on the Abrams Appleseed list,” says Chris Raschka. “And they look even better now in their new format: larger and more unified. An aggressive marketing campaign is planned, including national publicity, advertising, a book trailer, and appearances by Chris Raschka in support of the series.
Chris Raschka has published over 60 children’s books, including the 2012 Caldecott Medal winner A Ball for Daisy, which was also a New York Times Best Illustrated Book. His other books include the 2006 Caldecott Medal winner The Hello, Goodbye Window by Norton Juster; the Caldecott Honor book Yo! Yes?, and the ALA-ALSC Notable Children’s Book Good Sports. He lives in New York City.
