CBC TO OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS TO TWO ENTRY-LEVEL PUBLISHING STAFF FOR ABA INSTITUTES

Tuesday, October 25, 2016 — New York, NY — The Children’s Book Council announces that applications are now open for any entry-level employees at CBC member publishers to apply for one of two scholarships to attend an ABA bookseller institute in early 2017.

The scholarships will include airfare and hotel, and are being offered by the CBC Early Career Committee (ECC) and the CBC Diversity Committee. Applications are due by email by November 15 and should consist of 50-100 words as to why the applicant would benefit from this scholarship.

The winners will attend either the Winter Institute in Minneapolis in January 2017 or the Children’s Institute in Portland, Oregon in April 2017, and will work at the CBC/Every Child a Reader table with a CBC staffer to sign up booksellers for Children’s Book Week.

Members of the ECC and Diversity Committees will read all applications and make their decisions by December 1.

Managers who feel someone in their department would benefit from this experience are also encouraged to apply on behalf of an entry-level employee.

Information required:

  • Applicant’s name
  • Publisher
  • One reference contact
  • A 50-100 word statement on why the applicant would benefit from this scholarship

Applications should be emailed to Alexa Frank at alexa.frank@cbcbooks.org by November 15 with the words ‘CBC Early Career scholarship application’ or ‘CBC Diversity scholarship application’ in the subject header.
