AAP Introduces Annual Snapshot of U.S. Book Market
According to the survey, the trade category’s largest growth was in the children’s and young adult genres — with double-digit growth in revenue (20.9%) and units (13.5%) — surpassing the adult fiction market. Paper and hardback continue to be the most popular formats for children’s fiction, while downloaded audio and eBooks saw significant growth.
The industry’s health is driven by the depth and range of titles and formats produced by publishers. By that measure, 2014 was a good year for publishers with more than 2.7 billion books in all formats sold and continuous innovation in developing new ways for readers to enjoy and learn from books.
